REFUGEE FILM FESTIVAL COMES TO KORJAAMO KINO ON NOVEMBER 9-11 IN HELSINKI

 

The multilingual and international Refugee Film Festival is coming for the fifth time - this year at Korjaamo Kino in Töölö, Helsinki on November 9-11.

 

The festival will feature, among other things, a domestic crime film Normaalii directed by Ali Al-Saffu and a documentary film Baghdad On Fire by Karrar Al-Azzawi about youth protests against corruption and conflicts in Iraq. In Omin Sanoin screening we present short films by filmmakers, immigrated to Finland.  Saturday's seminar will discuss European and Finnish border and asylum policy. Minister of European Affairs Anders Adlercreutz will participate in the discussion.

 

In January 2023 Refugee Film Festival received ”Cultural Achievement of the Year” Award, granted by the City of Helsinki and in December 2022 we received the Finnish Documentary Guild's Award for ”The Documentary Act of the Year’ for promoting humanism through film.
